[Gondor needs no knitting]
I just deleted over 600 comments in the SpamTrap, so if something from one of you snuck into there, I am sorry. Usually when I clear it out, it’s 3 or 4 comments. So you can see how 600 was a little overwhelming for me. I am not sure what is going on with the Internet this week, but I disapprove! But yay for the trap working, I suppose.
On to the post! I was under the impression that there was oodles of knitting that I had done and not told you about, that I just needed to photograph. The window of time where there’s sunshine in my living room *and* I’m home *and* awake *and* everything isn’t too much of a mess is apparently as easy to find as Brigadoon.
It seems I am on crack, though, because when it came down to it, I just had a lace shawl & a pair of socks. I had to dig out some WIPs to make this worth an actual entry. It lives after the jump.
First up, the Shetland Triangle. I am famously not a fan of the triangle shawl, because my rear is quite notable enough without wearing an arrow pointing it out, but I also cannot resist a knitalong, and so now I have a triangular shawl. Um. Oops.
It was great fun to knit, and I am a sucker for this yarn and how gradually it shifts color. I am thinking, though, that this is my last lace without blocking wires. String blocking works much better than just pins, but is still wicked fiddly. So KnitPicks, here I come.
Next, striped socks! From Noro, of course. This is exactly the sort of pattern I cannot resist — when the yarn does all the work for you, the pattern is simplicity itself, and the bang for your knitting buck is most excellent.

I do have to admit that the yarn started its life as the first chart of the Wabenschal, however, the total there was less than the sum of its parts. I picked up some Mini Mochi at Madrona Fiber Arts, and I think that’ll make a marvelous Wabenschal. It’s the sort of sock yarn you pick up and know *immediately* that it is too good for your feet. It *must* be around your neck.
Here, have two WIPs. On both, I’m about a quarter to halfway through the second sock, but as both are identical pairs, not fraternal, I probably won’t bother photographing them again when they’re done. First, inspired by the Mojo socks, and made with Yarni sock yarn I bought in Minneapolis in January. I’ll be knitting this recipe again, maybe fraternals, maybe in a handpainted yarn.

And Ripple socks, from KnitPicks Felici. I bought this colorway on impulse because it was on clearance, and I am loving it. I am calling them my 70s socks. And that pattern? Is *so* easy. Just one row, eight stitch repeat, with alternate knit rows. I *know*. Mindless, but not too mindless, and with the color changes to keep it interesting. Love these socks! Also, I love this yarn. The Nautical & Fascinating socks I made with the Schooner colorway is my favorite pair of socks to wear. That the yarn is machine washable and dryable is a bonus.

Also, please note how fabulous they look on the new sock blockers! So much easier than trying to take pictures of my own feet, you have no idea, unless you are a sock knitter.
Speaking of sock knitting, which I am basically all the time, how excited are we about the Sock Summit*? I am dying for them to post the times for classes, because I can only go down to Portland for about half of it. I want to take the Crocheted Socks class, and then maybe some hour sessions. And then shop *lots*. (I say, as if I actually need any more sock yarn. Aiieee.)
Yay socks! Yay knitting!
* Yes, for you non-knitters, though I can’t imagine why you would be reading this whole entry, that is an entire conference about sock knitting. In Portland. It is what I am living for after the film festival. After August, though, we need to set me some new goals.

PICTURES YAY!
Man, all your socks look so awesome that you’re kind of making me want to try making some again. Especially the 70s socks. Dude.

I love the triangular shawl! The colours are great!
And the socks are awesome, as always.
