[We travel without seatbelts on]

(Why, there you are, blog!)

I got eaten by the holidays. This is my busiest time at work, so much so that I can’t take the time to visit family for Christmas. I suspect they had a better time that way anyway, particularly as at this point in December I am super-cranky from being tired.

I took a break from working mid-month to attend our first Posada celebration. The families had been working hard in the weeks leading up to it, making decorations, like these angel centerpieces…

…and some pretty amazing pinatas, including Dora the Explorer.

Then it was back to holiday business. We run an adopt-a-family program as well as a gift closet. This year we served 200 children between the two programs.

After the jump, more holidays, a little Seattle, and a side of knitting.

As a reward for making it through all that, I went to The Nutcracker for the very first time. Seattle has sets by Maurice Sendak, which are seriously amazing.

Despite being rather Scrooge-ish about the holidays, I got a number of cards at home & at work. Thanks to everyone who pestered me for an address :)

And since I didn’t go to Spokane, Spokane sent things to me. A box for Christmas breakfast, and also a pirate ship. That was quite a surprise!

I took the day after Christmas off, and wandered around town with Puck. We went to the skate shop & the Nordic Heritage Museum.

In crafty news, I finally found & finished my Toe-up Jaywalkers, and I bought Koigu to make the Anemoi mitts. I am IN LOVE. I think the colors look like the sea, and they will be awesome.

Now I should be productive a bit before the New Year’s weekend. Unless I pop in to blather about movies — entirely possible — I will see you on the flip side.

I am driven to distraction (the good kind!) by the piƱatas and the pirate ship. But that Koigu, ohhhhhh.
