Last week’s everyday photo prompt was “inside the fridge”, which worked out well for me because it was organics week.
The only thing missing is cheese. And the freezer door, which holds ice for my bum wrist. And coffee, of course.
Also last week I had an off-site meeting in the International District. I am wicked jealous of people who work at that Center — they’re a block from Uwajimaya. On the way to the meeting I scoped out the windows at Kinokuniya Books. I am a little afraid to go past it during business hours, especially since they have stuff like this awesome Totoro hoodie in the window.
(Also, I read the reviews on Yelp. DVDs! Other Studio Ghibli miscellanea! Japanese knitting & crochet books! Seriously, I don’t think I should be allowed in this store.)
This weekend has been eaten by the Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. A friend won a pair of party passes, so I got one, which I think is hilarious. Obviously, I have not gone to any of the parties.
I also went to Spamalot.

And in the little time I was at home, I was doing mad crafting. Click through the jump for projects include Hooray for me gloves (round 3), sweatshirt pillow number one, and Ron’s Animal Crackers Hat.
I am IN LOVE with this hat. I finished knitting it earlier in the week, but it took me til the weekend to weave in the ends & add the braids. Basically, I think it is the cutest thing ever, and I can’t wait for it to be cool enough for me to wear it. It’ll match my Irish Hiking Scarf! How awesome is that? AWESOME.
I still have to make buttonholes & sew buttons on two more, but here is the first of the finished sweatshirt pillows, front & back.
This particular sweatshirt is from a retreat I went on my senior year of high school. I decided to close off the pillows with buttons so it’s easy to take them off to wash. (Also, I sewed the buttons while watching Away From Her, which was an amazing movie. FYI.)
I’m also doing another pair of Hooray for me gloves. It occurred to me that my first two sets (one of which I lost) were made before I fixed my twisted circular knitting. This time I decided to not to finger bits because they get in the way of typing & ring wearing. Instead, i’m doing a section of 2×2 ribbing at the top.
They are fantastic! Both are done, actually, except for the thumbs. Tragically, this means that I have no real walkabout knitting for today. I have Rose’s armwarmers, but they have a chart and I am not clever enough to wing it yet. Walkabout knitting is a goal for tonight
I still don’t have any pictures of Samus except for detail shots, because I don’t have a full-length mirror. So I guess if you want to see it, you have to visit me. Too bad for you!

Oh, wow, all the crafts look great!
Part of me wants you to go to one party at the festival, just for the stories. *g*

I should have gone to the one last night, because it was just around the corner from the theater, at Top Pot Doughnuts. There are so many people, though, I can feel my spoons falling away just thinking about it!

Save yr spoons, yes!
Queers & doughnuts, though = LOVE.

i am crazed with lust over that totoro hoodie. i’m sure it costs like seventythousandhundred bucks, and that doesn’t work for me.
i reeeeally like seeing the inside of your fridge! you remind me of polenta! and your knitting looks simply divine! yes! exclamation!

I gooogled it and it’s, like, $33. Which is wicked tempting, and a key reason why I am not allowed *in* that store.
Polenta is *best*. Even though I basically just keep making lasagna out of it.

I have nothing substantial to add except: Totoro hoodie!

You have so much food in your fridge! It’s very inviting. My fridge always looks so empty, even after I’ve just bought groceries.

ooooooh lasagna with polenta! i’m there! yummers.
$33 is not reeeeally that much, right? in the epic sense of the word? sigh…

is this the bookstore *at* uwajimaya, or a different one? because if it is different… then the uwajimaya one has that sweatshirt too. also a brown shirt that is also totoro. they are pretty common at japanese-type stores, although i wonder if the bookstore in japantown i am thinking of is actually a chain, because that one and the one at uwajimaya are very similar.

i think jaci’s fridge is smaller than a normal fridge, which could be part of it.
October 18th, 2007 at 9:50 am
It is true. Which is why I would be so tempted to get it. Waaaaaant.
October 18th, 2007 at 9:52 am
It’s the one *at* Uwajimaya. On the northeast corner. This one is a chain.
October 18th, 2007 at 10:09 am
I want it so much! I am five.

It is true. It is wee. For North America.
