I had not heard about Jackie Burroughs, and I really hope two does not a trend make.

My cinephobic self has added STMS to my queue based entirely on your description (okay, 80% you, 10% Canada, 10% Jackie Burroughs).

I saw this on the weekend. I didn't love it, but I do appreciate a movie with so many ladies in it. (None of them seemed very HAPPY, though. Perhaps no one is?)

And yes, the gastro-intestinal stuff did nothing for me.

I liked the money issues being realistic, but kind of felt they got dropped after one mention with no resolution.

I knew nothing about Dougie and I was fine with that. :)

Yay, wasn't Another Year fantastic? I loved it so much. And Barney's Version! So glad you got to see it. Adored that too. The book is awesome, definitely give it a read!

And oh yes, Biutiful broke my heart into a million pieces. At times I found the bleakness a bit much, but Bardem's performance is astounding. One for the ages.

I heart movies. :)

Paul Bettany is once again badass, inexplicably tattooed, and sporting a terrible American accent. He has scars! He is full of angst! He has crazy fighting skills! In 3D!

You really do make it sound very appealing.
